Candle Care Tips

Dear Petala Lovers,

Here are some essential candle care tips to help you get the most out of your Petala candles;

1. Trim the Wick

   - Before Each Burn: Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch to prevent excessive soot and ensure a clean, even burn.

2. First Burn Matters:

   - Burn Until Full Melt Pool: Allow the candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container. This helps prevent "tunneling" and ensures even burning.

3. Avoid Drafts:

   - Burn in a Still Area: Keep candles away from drafts, vents, and fans to prevent uneven burning and soot formation.

4. Burn for the Right Time:

   - Follow the Rule of Thumb: Burn your candle for at least one hour per inch of its diameter. Avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time to prevent overheating.

5. Use a Candle Snuffer:

   - Avoid Blowing Out: Use a candle snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax to extinguish the flame. This minimizes smoke and preserves the scent.

6. Keep the Wax Pool Clean:

   - Remove Debris: Regularly remove any debris, such as wick trimmings or matches, from the wax pool to prevent it from catching fire.

7. Store Properly:

   - Cool, Dark Place: Store candles in a cool, dark place to preserve their fragrance and prevent the wax from melting or fading.

8. Reposition the Wick:

   - Center the Wick: After burning, if the wick has shifted, gently reposition it to the center while the wax is still soft to ensure even future burns.

9. Know When to Stop:

   - Leave 1/2 Inch of Wax: Discontinue burning the candle when about 1/2 inch of wax remains to prevent overheating the container.

10. Double-Check Candle Holder:

    - Heat-Resistant Holders: Ensure that the holders or containers you use are heat-resistant and not prone to cracking or breaking under heat.

11. Candle Placement:

    - Heat-Sensitive Surfaces: Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable items to prevent accidental fires.

12. Use a Lid or Cover:

    - Protect from Dust: Cover your candles with a lid when not in use to keep them free from dust and preserve their fragrance.

13. Avoid Drafty Areas:

  - Consistent Flame: Keep candles away from windows, doors, and air vents to maintain a steady flame and reduce uneven burning.

By following these tips, you can enjoy a longer-lasting, cleaner, and more enjoyable candle-burning experience.
